Assumptions

  • This calculator only accepts integers, with optional commas or spaces removed before evaluation.
  • Division is integer division, so any fractional remainder is discarded.
  • Division or modulo by zero returns an invalid result instead of a fake numeric answer.

About this Big Number Calculator

Standard calculators (and JavaScript itself) usually lose precision after 15-17 digits (IEEE 754 standard). If you need to add 20-digit ID numbers, calculate crypto balances, or solve Project Euler problems, you need arbitrary-precision arithmetic. This tool calculates huge integers exactly.

Who this calculator is for

  • Developers and analysts working with integers larger than normal safe-number limits.
  • Users doing exact ID, finance-unit, or combinatorics arithmetic without scientific notation.
  • Anyone who needs full integer precision instead of rounded floating-point results.

When to use it

  • Use it when regular calculators start rounding the last digits of a large integer.
  • Use it for exact addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, or modulo on very long integer strings.
  • Use it to verify values used in cryptography, blockchain units, or number-theory problems.

How to use this calculator

  1. Select the Operation (+, -, *, /, %).
  2. Enter Number A (can be hundreds of digits long).
  3. Enter Number B.
  4. The result is computed with full precision.

Key assumptions

  • This calculator only accepts integers, with optional commas or spaces removed before evaluation.
  • Division is integer division, so any fractional remainder is discarded.
  • Division or modulo by zero returns an invalid result instead of a fake numeric answer.

How this calculator works

This tool uses the `BigInt` primitive in modern JavaScript engines, which can represent integers larger than 2^53 - 1. It performs integer arithmetic, meaning division results are truncated (no decimals).

Inputs explained

Number A & B

Enter any integer. No decimals allowed. No commas needed (they will be stripped automatically).

Operation

Standard arithmetic. 'Modulo' (%) returns the remainder of division.

Understanding your results

The result is an exact integer string. It will not use scientific notation (e.g., 1e+30) so you can copy the full number.

Example scenarios

Huge Addition

A = 9007199254740991, B = 5. Result = 9007199254740996 (Standard calculators might round this).

Multiplication

123456789 * 123456789 = 15241578750190521.

Key Features

  • No Scientific Notation
  • Unlimited Digits
  • Exact Integer Math

Tips & Best Practices

  • This is for **integers only**. Decimal values are rejected.
  • Useful for cryptography keys, blockchain units (Wei), and combinatorics.

Glossary of Terms

BigInt
A built-in object that provides a way to represent whole numbers larger than 2^53 - 1.
Arbitrary-Precision
Arithmetic where the precision is limited only by the available memory of the computer system.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I use decimals?
BigInt arithmetic is designed for integers. Supporting arbitrary-precision decimals is much more complex and computationally heavy.
What is the max number size?
Practically unlimited. You can calculate numbers with thousands of digits, constrained only by your browser's memory.
Why does standard math fail for big numbers?
Standard numbers are stored as 64-bit floats. They only have enough bits to safely store integers up to 9 quadrillion (15 digits). Beyond that, they start rounding off the last digits.
