What Calwarden stores in your browser.

Cookies and local storage

A cookie is a small value a website stores in your browser and sends with matching requests. Local storage also saves values in your browser, but it is not automatically sent with each request. Calwarden uses both for specific purposes described below.

Required account cookie

If you sign in, Calwarden sets a secure HTTP-only cookie named calwarden_session. It connects browser requests to your account without exposing the session value to page scripts. The cookie uses Secure and SameSite=Lax protections and is set to expire after 30 days. Signing out clears it. Calculators remain available without an account.

Local storage

Calwarden may keep the following information on your device:

  • light or dark theme preference;
  • recent and favorite calculators;
  • calculator-builder drafts or templates; and
  • local copies of account workspace items used for syncing.

You can clear this data through your browser settings. Doing so can reset preferences or remove drafts that were not synced elsewhere.

Cookie-free Umami analytics

Calwarden uses Umami for aggregate page-use analytics on public production pages. Its tracking code does not set cookies or track people across websites. It records information such as pageviews, referrers, browser and device type, operating system, and country without including calculator inputs.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics also runs on public production pages and may set first-party _ga and _ga_* cookies to distinguish visitors and maintain session state. It measures page and session activity, approximate location, and browser or device information. Calwarden does not send calculator inputs and configures advertising storage, advertising user data, and ad personalization as denied. Analytics is excluded from /admin/* pages.

Changing browser settings

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, scripts, and local storage. Blocking the account cookie prevents sign-in and cloud-save features from working in that browser. Blocking analytics cookies or scripts does not prevent calculator use. Browser privacy tools and extensions may offer additional controls.

Updates and questions

This policy will be updated if Calwarden changes the browser technologies or analytics services it uses. For more detail, read the Privacy Policy. Send questions through the Contact page.
