Formula source

• The calculator splits the cost into two main components: 1. **Storage Cost:** Total GB × Price per GB. 2. **Bandwidth (Egress) Cost:** Total GB Transferred × Price per GB. Total = Storage Cost + Bandwidth Cost.

Assumptions

• Storage is entered in terabytes and converted to gigabytes using 1024 GB per TB in this estimate.
• Preset pricing is treated as a flat per-GB planning rate even though providers use tiered pricing by region, SKU, operation, and volume.
• Preset data is checked into the repo and should be refreshed when provider pricing changes.
• Negative storage, transfer, or rate values are invalid.

Unit handling

• Cloud Pricing Preset accepts one of the configured options.
• Storage Amount accepts values in TB.
• Monthly Egress accepts values in GB.
• Custom Storage Rate accepts values in $/GB-mo.
• Custom Egress Rate accepts values in $/GB.
• Total Monthly Cost is displayed as currency.
• Storage Portion is displayed as currency.
• Bandwidth Portion is displayed as currency.

Rounding rules

• Number displays use up to 2 decimal places in the calculator UI.
• Currency outputs are displayed with standard US dollar formatting.
