Escape Tool accuracy and testing
This page documents how Calwarden builds trust for this calculator: source notes, regression-style default tests, limitations, assumptions, unit handling, rounding, and visible change history.
Formula source
- The tool replaces reserved characters with their escape sequences: * `|` becomes `\F\` * `^` becomes `\S\` * `&` becomes `\T\` * `~` becomes `\R\` * `\` becomes `\E\`
Test cases
Default input regression check
Generated from the checked-in default inputs and calculate function.
Inputs
- Input Text: Result is < 50% & > 10% | Confirmed
- Action: Encode to HL7
Expected outputs
- Processed Text: Result is < 50% \T\ > 10% \F\ Confirmed
Known limitations
- This page documents the checked-in calculator logic and does not certify results for every real-world edge case.
- Use the result as a planning estimate unless the calculator page states a stricter purpose.
Assumptions
- This tool uses the standard HL7 v2 reserved characters and their common escape sequences: field, component, repetition, subcomponent, and escape.
- It does not read custom delimiters from an MSH segment, so it is best for standard separator scenarios and quick transformations.
- The converter handles the basic text substitutions only and does not process formatting escapes such as highlight, hexadecimal, or local implementation-specific extensions.
Unit handling
- Input Text accepts text values.
- Action accepts one of the configured options.
Rounding rules
- Number displays use up to 2 decimal places in the calculator UI.
